On this day in 1874, ‘Hammerin’ Hank’ Aaron broke a baseball record. The Atlanta Braves’ Hank Aaron swings on a pitch from the L.A. Dodgers, driving it deep into left center field for his 715th career home run, beating Babe Ruth’s record.
